During the summer, the north pole is still ice-covered. But there are predictions that, as soon as 2013, the north pole might be ocean during the middle of the summer. Other predictions say this will not be for thirty to seventy years. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7139797.stm

For all non-dutch this is probable a new kind of view. In Holland, we do celebrate Christmas, but only with Christmas trees and having special meals with all family together. No presents! Instead of that, we have got "Sinterklaas", who has got his birthday on the 5th. of december. He comes from Spain and arrives at Holland about 10 days before, by boat. His helpers are all black (don`t ask me why?) and are called "Zwarte Piet" (Black Pedro). He travelles by horse trough the country (thousends of them of course), and the black Pedro`s carrie big bags with candy`s to give to the children. All kids leave their shoes near the chimney each day, and when they wake-up, theres a little present or some candy`s inside (I hope wrapped ones, ha ha). And then on the 6th., they find in the morning their nice Sinterklaas presents near the chimney. So, in The Netherlands the answer is not the Northpole, Alaska or Antarctic, but ESPANA!
