My point in saying that photosharing and blogging can be done elsewhere is that Miguel has a limited amount of time available for improving the site. I think it would be much better for him to spend that time on the chess aspects of the site than on non-chess functionality that is widely available elsewhere on the web. You also have to consider the increased costs, both in terms of money (more data served means more bandwidth bills) and time (to deal with complaints abount inappropriate content).

Personally, I would rather see additions relating to chess before aesthetic changes. For example, conditional moves, or a larger opening database.
