I have been critised for declining offers of play to low or unrated players..Have got some posts because of this.
Well, I am not great player even for 2500+ ELO here on Alice but I am experienc of play and study chess for "decades" and play with good result in the old days in simultan to some of the best GM in the world that time as: David Bronstein, V.Smyslov, Polugeavsky, Nick de Firmian, Margeir Pétursson, J.Hjartarson and more.
I thought it was not good for me to play here games with weak players as that will bee no fun for me or them. Perhaps that is not bright thinking and I am now ready to play in one tournament AUTO OPEN 146 to give players chance to kill me..Everyone loses a game..its only question of time when..and thats fine!
Good luck guys!

Well, you messed me up. I'm overbooked as it is, but the chance to play you forced me to sign up for the AUTO OPEN. ;-) Of course, every time I've signed up for a tourney, hoping to play someone in particular, it has not worked out. Even so, I had to try.

BTW, I think it's great that some of the better players play unrated and others, but I don't see where it's required. If it's no fun for you, why do it? I would not feel guilty about it if I were you. I'm just glad you're here.

Likely it will be fun after all!...When I was lower rated I wanted also to play against those high rated! 8-)

Still, those with low ratings should realize that strong play leads to being in a position to play stronger opponents.

If strong competition is all they really want immediately, any good chess playing software program can play over and over, never getting tired, and often at various levels. ;-)

Hey, Mustang, you're a real party pooper! ;-) You know there's more to it than just playing a 'puter.

i agree with tewald... there should be nothing wrong with declining games against lower players or any players in particular. That right is reserved to each member of this site and should not be questioned upon. :-P
