What is wrong with FICS?

I OTOH do recommend FICS, although I played a total of 2 games there last year, and not much more the year before. I've switched from live to correspondence (i.e., Alice), although I'm now going back to FICS a bit again. Think of FICS as the electronic equivalent of over the board chess, while Alice is the electronic equivalent of correspondence (postcard) chess. Both are good; it just depends on what you're looking for.
