I believe that chess base is allowed but fritz iz not. chess base is a conveient way to use many chess boards simultaneously. I make a series of moves, if I want to look at another possibility all I need do is click, far easier than setting up the original position using a tangible set.
Chess base also allows one to compare an opening position to millions of games and see the statistics for various moves. It is also easy to replay a game between 2 grandmasters played decades ago to get a feel for the right way to play a position. I assert that chesss base is ok providing one does not use the kibitz mode.
There are data bases for end games. These data bases contain optimal play for all endings with 5 or fewer pieces on the board. For example 2 kings 2 rooks and 1 pawn. Theoretically the data base could be printed on paper. I believe these are also legal. However I thinking opening data bases are used far more the endgame data bases.
One thing I like about QA is no money is at stake. I assume that few of my opponents are using in engine. It seems like a lot of work and not very much fun. Imagine going to a club and assking someone to make moves for fritz becuase you want to have the feel of real chess pieces and a real opponent. I think you would have to pay someone to provide that service.

When I found out that QA allowed the use of opening books I started (mis)using them. I still step out of openings pretty early, and I've gone on 6 month binges with openings like b4/f4 etc.

I think all that analysis is best applied after a game really.

Raeth
If all analysis is applied after the game then all the moves are random
But you ment all computer analysis

Not neccessarily. Some people play intuitively, some people play the opening by memory etc.
