Im sure this is against the rules, but I know that Bergman is a computer player that someone has scripted to interact with Queen Alice.

How do I know?
- Bergman never actually comes online to play. The computer logs on for him, makes the move and logs off so fast that you wont find his status to actually be 'online' ever.
- When the script is active, you will never have to wait more than 1 minute for it to make it's move because it is programmed to download the mail every minute and make any moves it finds.

I think he should be banned and measures put in place to prevent this. Perhaps some image verification on each login will be a start.

You can set your personal options not to show your online status .

As for your other reason .... do you really believe that ??

Absolutely,
Test him out... you will never wait more than 2min for a move.
I am busy downloading a computer chess game as we speak so I can test him up against that.

So far today I have been online constantly playing against him, never waited more than 2min for a move to come through.

Well I ( like many many people on here ) have played him .

Yes he does move very quickly although on a couple of occasions I had to wait a bit longer than 2 minutes , perhaps the server was down ?

If he is in fact a script , it's one that can use the chat function too , very clever bit of programming eh ?

When you have downloaded your engine you'll see he does make mistakes , just perhaps not ones that you can see . He has even been known to lose the odd game against low rated players - http://www.queenalice.com/topic.php?id=26801

Maybe that is written into the script to make him seem more 'human' ...... maybe .

I also note that as I type this some people have had to wait almost an hour for him to move .

I've played against him and he did take a few days to play some moves, as well as responding to my question, so I doubt your accusation. When I was playing against him he also had a backlog of waiting games. I'm in the opposite timezone to Britain so I'd expect this to be the case.
... and I've seen a game where he hung his queen

In my case he always provide comments on the games we played and complements you if had a strong move or good defense. So he is not a script.
