I'm interested in the King's Gambit. An opening played various times by Fisher although after losing against .... (I forgot who it was) he decided never to play this opening again. I'm interested and would like to know where on the internet (NO-paysites) I could find some articles on this opening, especially version of the opening that don't continue on the third move with Bischop G1-F3.. Can anyone help??

KingsGambit, e4 e5, f4 black accepts the gambit and white then plays out the Kingside Knight, black responds by playing g5 to try and retain his doubled Kingsbishop's pawn (To avoid danger from a castled f-file rook) and so supports it with his Kings Knight Pawn (Defended by the Queen)
Next white plays his Rook pawn in the h file to try and undermines blacks pawn structure at the risk of losing his own position and structure.

Black has little option but to advance his g file pawn and to attack whites knight.

White now plays positional in moving the knight forward to e5.

Black moves his Kingside knight to try and counter whites e file pawn.

From here various lines are visible but best would be for both white and black to advance their Queen pawns two squares.

I myself also take pleasure in playing the KG and for that matter the QG so if you are interested send me a challenege and I will hapilly oblidge.

I trust that this posting will shes some light on the subject,

If you hav any questions just ask and I will see where and how I can assist.

Kind Regards

Morpheus

the only thing about the kings gambit is...
the falkbeer!!

by far the most dynamic counter system

Well, Kingsgambit is my favorit as white you know..Fischer lost to Spassky mister Rikje..The Falkbeer wariaton is playable for black but not more..black can only hope for draw. But we all have ouer opinions about this. For wild fun in the Kingsgambit is great gambit line:1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Nc3 Qh4+ 4.Ke2
However this is only for braveheart souls as white!
In the past I have play some games with this in ordinary corres and only lost one game as white. 8-)

The Kieseritzky is probably White's best try to mix things up, provided Black obliges. The Muzio just leads to a draw and the Fischer Defense lines aren't really that tricky for Black and probably lead to equality. There was some talk of the Allgaier having been resurrected after 7.Nc3!?, but I don't see White having much anything after:

1. e4 e5 2. f4 exf4 3. Nf3 g5 4. h4 g4 5. Ng5 h6 6. Nxf7 Kxf7 7. Nc3 f3 8. d4 Be7.

The Falkbeer in my opinion is a trick opening that should be relegated to blitz games.
