It is a historic first with four players rated 2800 participating: Carlsen, Anand, Aronian, and Kramnik, followed by Ivanchuk, Karjakin, Nakamura, Gelfand, Svidler, and Nepomniachtchi.

Round 1
Look at the game Ivanchuk vs. Svidler!

Nice win by herr Carlsen over Gelfand today. Nakamura hasn't lost...yet.

A very complicated game.

It was a combative round, and once again, Carlsen and Ivanchuk were right there in the mix of it. Ivanchuk played a hard endgame against Nepomniachtchi, but was unable to exploit his extra pawn. Carlsen once more played the most complex game of the round, with mindboggling complications against Gelfand. Eventually, Magnus had the last word and won.
