...and the country is not called Burma anymore, but Myanmar. By the way, my math's seems to be not my strongest point also. After cheching again, savoy is right, I count this time also just 4 stars on the flag of New Zealand, which makes it even more different then the australian flag.

When I wrote that AUS and NZ have similiar flags I meant that they are more similiar than say Nepal and Vatican City. I bet students learning flags are more likely to misidentify the flags of NZ as Aus and vice versa than almost any other pair of countries. I suppose Belgium and Germany seem similiar (especially if your head is spinnng in a vertical plane) Russia, France and Netherlands seem similiar if you're fixated on red white and blue stripes and aren't careful to note the order or orientation. Iceland and Norway could be confused until you know which background color goes with which flag.

Were those students who got their countries mixed up punished by being flagellated?

Let me ask you a question then phystutordotcom: What is the difference between the fags of the Netherlands and Luxembourg? I bet that students learning flags have more difficulties seperating those two as the ones of AUS and NZL.

They thought the Netherlands flag came up short. The also thought the Netherlands flag had a darker tone.
