If there are no automatic timeouts in tournament games, some players can prolong the length of a tournament by several months or years, sometimes they might not even finish at all. I do not know why people do not claim wins on players who have have been several months offline and might never come back.

The chess by mail has a time limit. After that the game is awarded to the claimant. In Q.A.It should be automatic.

I agree. Tournament games should be automatically awarded when one over steps the time control.
One reason games are never claimed may be both players abandoned the game.

it can take 1 million years or more to finish a tournament if this website still exist in the future, we will all die but our tournament games are still not finished... the next generations of chess players will be wondering, "oh this tournament game started million years ago"
