hi all,

it is common that whatever u read or wahtever u do have its after effects forexample here in my institue mathematicians r called meters due to their way of walking ,eating habbits ,way of thinking and so on...
unfortunately i don't have much chessplayers around so that i could observe the change that chess has brought to their life. :^-(
i simply want to know tath
how much u think that chess has effected ur life? >:-(

to me it has changed much, now to a particular event happening my and my friends thoughts differ alot, by this i mean that there total line of thinking is different.similar the degree of importance that they give to events differ ?:-( .many things smiliar to that.
have a nice day.
bye to reader.

Some years ago, I used to play a lot (and I mean that). In that time I saw things like I was inside a board!

When I saw people yelling to each other, it reminds me to rooks trying to control a file, for example. Or a man kissing a woman I visualize a King taking a Queen... Very odd.

Now I am better, thank you. :-D

Cheers,
Beco.

i play internet chess only..i play alot...it is
about all i do now...so i am taking a chess course on the net to actually learn something about chess instead of pushing the pieces around like a hockey puck...i am getting on in years and
i think chess will be what i do mostly so i want
to get better at it...i would like to find an otb
place to play but i have no rating so i stay away
for now...sometimes i think about setting up a board in the library to see who might come to play..maybe i could try that...i also play pente
but that is just for a diversion from chess...i don't read chess books...i get up at 5:00 and start playing chess first thing...it is usually the last thing i am doing at night...you wouldn't
believe it from my rating %-)

I play chess since I was 9. Now I´m 40, but have never played so much since I found this site. What I see as "symptoms" of high exposition to chess are:

1. I drive my car better ;-) I never heard anybody saying this but it happens to me, especially in predicting what the fool ahead of me is about to do!
2. I have planned my days better. I see the day as a combination that I have to calculate. When things run smoothly I feel great satisfaction. When things go bad it is because the other guy (the day, fate, bad luck whatever)had some wild card in the sleeves and I didn´t see it :-(
3. I fight depression better. In the hardest days of my recent life I remember myself simply playing chess, feeling like I were on a boat about to sink in a storm, and not caring much. Somehow the chessboard was the only thing that made sense to me and everything was under control.
4. I need glasses ?:-( For the first time in my life I´m feeling like wearing glasses. My eyesight is getting tired probably due to long hours at the computer :^-(
5. I have dreams with chess positions :-O . Some times I go to bed with 3 of 4 games in my head and keep playing mentally (I´m very sick). I have the firm belief that my mind will keep playing (and trying to solve problems)while I´m sleeping, and when I wake up in the morning that Alekhinian 20 ply combination, sacrifices included, will be ready and my opponent is a dead man walking :-(O)
