The players should have the option to make the games rated. |
My fear if I allow rated position games is that for many positions it is really difficult to tell how equal they are, so it will not be fair to rate the outcome.
Even in a tournament, where you play two games with alternate colors it may not be fair, as the result of the first game will be taken into account when computing ratings for the second game.
Anyway, I'd like to hear what others think about this before making a final decision.

Positons Games ,well it depends two players whose going to play with it.Its their decisions if they want to Rated or unrated .You have a choices to "OPTIONS" the Position games.rated it or unrated it.

Yes, but the rated checkbox is ignored if you enter a FEN and the game is always considered non-rated.
I see a position game as sort of a different game, like a chess variant. For example, you can play a Fischer Random game by setting up a proper FEN, the only thing that won't work is castling which has modified rules.

In my opinion they shouldn't be rated because it's not the same as starting a new game.

i would say it depends on what the position was. Obviously this feature would be usefull for starting in set openings but aso it could be abused to set up a complex but clearly winning position for one player
