I have found that alot of players in the 2000 range on here are weak, yet alot of other 2000's play quite strongly, has anyone noticed this? That either people are far too weak or far too strong on here? I don't come across middle ground that often on here and have studied alot of peoples games on here. Why do some 2000's play like 1200-1400's at an OTB event while others play on par with there rating(1800-2100, roughly same strength)? With the given long limit's a 2000 on here should play like a 2200-2300 OTB player? I guess this proves rating is no indicator of real strength.

I agree.
I played against very strong players in 2300+ range.. And very weak 2200+ range... (players that made oppenings erros or felt to obvious traps).
But many "strong" players are here for long time... while the more weaker are here with few games...
I think we can have a clue about player "strongness" only after 100 or more games...
Is this "between" time ratings are to "provisional" I think...

If you see a 'p' after the rating that means you are playing a provisional player, his/her rating may not be indicative of playing strength. The 'p' goes away after 25 completed games.

Part of it is how much the player spends on each game - I can't help but think that people playing 100 games at a time generally can't play their best :-)

Also, there are some "inflation" on ratings do to players that "leave" games...
I won several "unclear" games on time... (after sending remember messages, and waiting a bit)

I see that the "best" games usually happens late on tournaments... with players that at least don´t "dissapear"...

I think that the creation of teams, welcome groups and theme tornaments should helps this issue in long term...

I agree with you. I'm about a 1900 right now, and I'm playing a few 2000s. Some I'm beating soundly (I'm up a queen and knight within 11 moves on one, and he's played over 100 games) and some are very even. I think above 2200 is where ratings are somewhat legitimate.
