With the consultations necessary, I would like to assign Duncan as the captain and Mandaragit as the second Captain for decision making.
Go Philippines...

Hello: In the same way we have made in the other matches (with Latin America and Argentine) and as a way to thank you for playing with us, I can offer (for free, of course) to the filipino players some data about surnames that could be of some interest if you have a surname of Spanish origin.

Tha data are the number of persons living in Spain with that surname (as a first surname or as a second surname as the Spaniards use two, being the first one the surname of the father and the second one the surname of the mother), broken down those data by geographical province.

For instance, I have choosen as an example the surname of one of your players, Tesselizaga. Her surname (elizaga) is a very interesting one in Spain (almost everybody would guess that a person with that surname comes from Navarre in the north of Spain).

In fact, there is only 188 persons in Spain with that surname (as first surname) and 147 as second surname. Most of then living in Madrid and Navarra.

Spain has about 45 millions of inhabitants.

So, if you are interested in those data for surnames of Spanish origin, please send me a private messagge with your e-mail (as I have to send you a doc file with the data).

Thanks. Manuel.

togoychess (Manuel),
I think my Surname "DUQUE" (Last Name) came from Spain if I'm not mistaken. Remember you said that your great grandmother came from Loag, Ilocos Norte in the Philippines. And I told you that the root of the DUQUE FAMILY came from Laog, Ilocos Norte too But for the correction our root came from Paoay, Ilocos Norte, Philippines and migrated from Pangasinan and some part of the Philippines. I don't know what part of Spain my surname came. If you can trace it for me, Thank you in advance.
Some of the Filipino people Surnames came from Spain like my Surname. But some people were telling me that my Surname came from France but I think it came from Spain.

This is my e-mail address: RADUQUE3@AOL.COM
My web site address: www.rayduque3.bravehost.com
Other is: www.geocities.com/rduque1016/RayDuque3ofNY

I will also send you a private message in your message. Thank you for sharing your messages to the Filipino people.

Ray: Your last name Duque is of Spanish origin, no doubt at all. It is a very common surname in Spain. I'll send you the data tomorrow.

Duque means in Spanish a nobiliary title. To be nominated as a Duque is the most important nobiliary title that the King can give yoy, allways in the way of "Duque of something"

The french name for that title is Duc.
