Could you post a synopsis of all information a player might need regarding tournaments at some easy to locate part of the site--such as a link from the tournaments page?

Among the information should be an explanation of the tie-break system. I'm a little curious, for example, why opponent's cumulative score in a multi-round DRR takes priority over total score over the rounds. Strength of opposition is the usual first tie-break in Swiss events (where not everyone played everyone else), but the logic that supports this choice does not apply to RR events.

If two players in the final round tie, the player with stronger opposition in previous rounds should be rewarded only after it is determined whether he or she scored as well against this opposition. If the score is lower, why credit the strength of opposition?

In fact, knowing the system in use would help develop an appropriate strategy. In preparation for the tie-break system currently in use, it behooves a player to just barely advance--scoring only the minimum needed (rather than crushing as many opponents as possible) because every loss that does not prevent advancing to the next round will score should tie-breaks come into play.

I found the explanation. I should modify my request:

The current tie-break system is right for Swiss events, but not for round robin events. Opponents' averaged score in a round robin event does not measure a player's success, it rewards failure.

Essentially, I lost on tie-breaks because I had no losses in the early round, while my opponent had two losses in the early round. My stronger performance was punished, rather than rewarded--tie-breaks should be designed to reward best play.
