What a bad movie! I am sorry but this is just another Dances with wolves in Japanese: Samurais = Indians, Kevin Costner = Tom Cruise...
Same story plot: The more modern army against the samurai in a country that was trying to move forward as a modern nation.
It was so stupidly predictable! I couldn't believe the bad-acting, the poor script and the amount of money they invested in this movie...
Bad... Bad... Bad...
Why is it that good stories are turned into clichés for other movies?
Speaking of which, I am perhaps one of the very few that thinks that Dances with Wolves was a horrible movie (slooooooooooow)... And what about seven boring years in Tibet? Man! Those are bad movies...
On the other hand, I highly recomend Equilibrium

thankfully i saw this bakc in december last year so i didn't waste any money going to watch it at the cinema

Yeas, Last Samurai is not very good movie..but not so bad, only to soft and so on..Mel Gibson is the genius to make movies on the old warrior days.
However I am agree that Ecuilibrium is very good and special movie even for the fight action is about the same as in the Matrix movies. The thinking of the future is fine.

I remember seeing The Last Samurai last year and I also remember not wanting to see it again, while Equilibrium is one of the best additions to my collection. As Gambitshark stated, it is comparable to The Matrix. For some, it might be even better.
