Do you analyze your games with your opponent after the game?
I would like to do this frequently, by sending messages. I think it's very educational.

I beat myself up over stupid moves I've made or things I haven't seen which I should have done. But not really in detail with an opponent - I'm not that good that I can analyse my games - I just think I should have moved there rather than there!

I'd love to do this, however people will just enter the game into an engine and let it do the post-mortem. Though a human post-motem would be beneficial as well, but seem's impracticle as people tend to play so many games that they focus on there games and can't post-mortem. Also I'd like to say that if the center becomes dead and you don't play in the direction your pawn chain is pointing in then it's your fault for losing and not the opponents for playing on the correct wing. Your not "competing" against specific people, your competing against a position, your competing against your inner-demons to be overcome.

Entering the game into an engine is a great way to find tactical blunders but doesn't do much for positional mistakes.

I've started analysing games based off of pawn and piece positions as many openings (such as the nimzo-indian and Paulsen sicilian, two of the best openings) have similiar positions for a side, for example: Enter "filter games" then put pawns on a7,b7,c5, d7,e6,f7,g7,h7 as black, nothing for white (enter simply of course if your looking for a sicilian specifically) and viola! You get the games with that pawn stucture! A very valuable tool so as to not have to filter out the nimzo-indian games while at the same time getting abunch of openings you don't play.
