AOR quotient = [(Player's Rating-AOR)/Player's Rating]*100 (%) |
Ok. I like this formula better.

miguel, here's my two cents on this. i think you need to have a limit on the AOR as well since it showed that someone got a rating of 3000+ which is too high. I don't think the AOR is accurately representing the right ratings. Rating is essential to players that really want to track how they perform on an accurate ELO rating of his opponent. there are various ways to compute for ELO rating that can be found in any chess org websites. Just a thought...

alib2004,
This web site computes ratings using the ELO formula, but ratings are relative, not absolute. For a player to have an accurate rating that reflects his/her strength he/she must play a lot of other opponents of different strengths. There are people here who only play against their friends over and over so they create their own rating scale among them. The best of the group gets a high 2000+ rating, even though when compared to all the players he may be a 1500. As soon as players become more integrated by playing tournaments those ratings will blend with the rest. The guy with a 3000+ rating I have to look into, there is foul play being involved there.
