For correspondence chess, I play at, of course, http://queenalice.com, while for real-time chess, I occasionally play at http://freechess.org or http://playchess.com. As for chess puzzles, I prefer http://chess.emrald.net. http://chessgames.com is a good opening database.
However, could someone recommend me several chess forums, and websites which offer comprehensive instructional material?

I go to www.chessgames.com , which, as a matter of fact, is how I found Queenalice people in the Kabitzers cafe talked about the tournament here, alot of games from Greco on there (And even show's knowledge of Steinitz ideas long before Steinitz! And in some cases even NN show's positional understanding!) I estimate Greco today would be rated around 1600 FIDE today from a completely objective standpoint, relative to respective time period though is 2750-2800 (hey, he was the strongest player in his day!)
I'm Jaymthetactician there.

Try slowchess.net. There are very good training materials in there. And you can play a lot of games there too.

improveyourchess.com is a pay site

http://slowchess.net does not exist.
What I need most is a list of active chess forums.

Correction it should have been: slowchess.com. sorry
