Thanks for the notice. I am just a new comer. :-O

The message system is very adequate as it is. I think a pop up intant message program would be a great added feature though. Or an open chat box in game, for the players and potential kibitzers.

Encouraging people to comment on games in progress strikes me as a very bad idea. The players can already send each other messages either with their moves or through the message system.

If you want instant messaging and instant moves, you should probably be playing somewhere like FICS, ICC or Playchess.com.

I agree with richerby - such features would encourage cheating.

How about an IRC channel for QueenAlice? Of course, QueenAlice would have to monitor it to ensure no cheating or other abuse takes place.

I don't really see how an instant messenger program would make the games more susceptible to cheating than it already is. It is a correspondance chess game. Anyone can observe any game at any time already...and any member can leave messages, whats the difference if its an instant message?
I understand if verbal abuse is the concern, but I think an 'ignore' option, or something of the sort would be simple enough.
I think a chat option would be a great way to develop the QueenAlice community.
Just my 2 cents. I don't care either way. ;-)
