I does make example "small minds talk about people, big minds talk about ideas" it was idea that is important and not specific example. Idea being that more contact with the world and less isolationism.

Perhaps the better way to increase contact with the world is for Americans to learn about the ways of the rest of the world (for which I shall use the metaphor `playing soccer') rather than encouraging the rest of the world to adopt American ways (for which I shall use the metaphor `playing baseball')?
