P.S - in second setup you could also put your bishop first at e8, bring knight to d7 and then transfere bishop to h5. in some cases when opponent takes your pawn at d5 with his pawn at c4, take it with e6 pawn (not c6)and use the now free square at e6 to develop bishop there and put it to f7. Then you could use the open e-line for heavy pieces and to make an outpost (Nimzowitsch greatest joy )at e4 by playing Ne4 (of course if he later plays d3-d4).

So e4 would not be a secure outpost because of the pawn on f2 but if it was provoked to f3 then e-pawn is weak and in line of the heavy pieces?

i was talking about d3 pawn. you cannot put your knight at e4 as long as he is there.
