Is it just me or when you look at your games from the other side ("the other colour"), it's a whole different game?

I'm quite agreed. A friend of mine, who always has been just that little bit better at chess, said he looked mainly for possible threats - for him or for me - before he played a move. When you flip the board, the opponent's potential threats, or their general plan, somehow become much more obvious. Especially when I think I've clinched the match, it pays off to flip and look again.

It's a tip I give to all of the people I train. If you flip the board and it looks like a different game, then you need to start your evaluation again. You should get to the point where flipping it is no longer needed, but until then it is very useful.

When I flip the board it comes up tails, and the pieces fly all over the room. I think I need a magnetic set.

One would suggest a rotation along one of the other 17 dimensions
