He played against the Beginners Game with a player rated about 1200 and mysteriously resigned even though winning. Granted the guy played very poorly...

you don't lose rating if you lose against a provisional player.

I wonder what his goal is. Suppose his goal is to get a rating of 5000. Which goal do you think is more worthwhile: His efforts to obtain an outrageously high rating or my efforts to complete 2000 games?

LOL ... you are FAR more worthy phys.
Seems to me he wants to be "No. 1"  on Queen Alice forever.
However, if there was a yearly championship, he might realize
that having a fake rating is not a worthwhile goal.
He would not be able to continue his obsession and also contend for a championship.
