Do you know anyone who thinks they would have a higher rating if they always played black?

I am better with black than white. My stats here back it up.

Why must one color be better than another!?

In my humble opinion, white has a slight advantage as it moves first. This does not mean that it is better. Black has some great options by going second. With today's understanding of the opening, a good positional player will in all likely hood do well with c5 or c6. If you are new to chess, I would think black would like to mirror white for the first few moves.

In Game Theory, Chess is among the "Perfect information" games; Black always has a half-move more information than White!

The stats show white has slightly better results in the professional realms. But I like axedre's comment and would like to expand on it: Black can shape the game often more than white. For example, if white plays 1.d4 then black can decide the game will be sicilian with ...c5 or steer it somewhere else. White can do this on subsequent moves too of course.
I have noticed my stats slightly favour black. I think this is likely because my white opening (KIA) does not maximize the initiative of the first move as much as some other openings do. My black opening (KID) however is a dangerous, flexible opening that has given me much success.
