I agree - a player should be placed in the position to recognize that a draw is there and then ask for it, which is why ICC will detect the draw but not conclude the game as such unless one of the players click the draw button to show that is what they want.

BTW, one of the conditions to apply 50 moves rules include castling. So, you should restart counting allways that occur one capture, one castle or one pawn move, in other words, allways that occur an irreversable movement.

Beco, not sure I follow you, but yes castling resets the counter. Still, if you made 50 move s without taking or moving a pawn I doubt you will still be in a position to castle. Theoretically you're right though. Mustang, could it be *some* players wait with offering/accepting a draw to influence their rating?

I was never aware that Castling reset the counter in the 50 Move Rule.
