I feel there should be three day per move tournaments. That way the length of time tournaments would take would be cut down greatly. If only one player in a seven day per move tournamet uses almost every seven days per move the tournament becomes very slow.

Miguel,

I completely agree. I joined 3 tournaments = ADV-50 (6/29), OPEN-103 (7/7) and OPEN-118 (7/30) and all 3 are still in the First Round 4 months later due to a handful of games. Moreover, if they were to end all at once, I would have 18 new games all at once.

Please consider faster tournaments, either 3 days/move or 30 days/all, for players who visit daily and move more rapidly. It's great to have people of all levels here, but it would also be great to allow some of us to play more games faster. Thank you.

How about 4 days per move with 1 additional day added for each move made in 1 day up to a maximum of 7 days?

This means a player would move from 4 days per move to 5 days for move if MOVE 1 is made in 1 day, then to 6 days for move if MOVE 2 is made in 1 day, and finally to 7 days for move if MOVE 3 is made in 1 day. This would allow the player on MOVE 4 to take up to 7 days to play that move. Time control would drop back to 4 days per move once the player takes more than 1 day to move.

The above may be too complicated to do but is more flexible, giving an opponent extra time in that critical position.

OR:

How about a finite time control? Example: Game in 60 days per side - player who runs out of days loses automatically.

I would be happy with either of the above two ideas or the 3 days per move time control suggested by others.

hi all!

i like the 30 days/game option...i think that one month will be ok to any that joins a tournament!

How about 7 days plus 1 day per move, like in an increment game? This basically gives everyone one day per move, but there is a 6 day cushion.

A long Fischer clock :) That's a really good idea since it has the extra benefit of allowing for games with many moves. A 50 move game would not feel as rushed as with 30 days for all moves would make it feel, but there would still be an effective time limit.
