QueenAlice is getting more and more 'overloaded' with new functions, I fear. It's not that I don't like or use them, but I noticed that newcomers to this site have problems to get used to all the possibilities and symbols.
What I liked with QueenAlice was it's hidden strength behind it's simplicity, which is fading. I don't have the right solution to this, but maybe we could find one together, if you see this like I do.

That is going to be a challenge, you want to keep the site simple for newcomers while at the same time you want to give experienced users more control and more features.
Maybe some of the recent members would like to post here what was their initial impression when joining? Would it be worth showing a 'simple' view of the site that you can then switch to 'advanced' when you feel comfortable with the basic stuff?

Not a complete solution by far, but notice that you now can choose between 'simple' and 'advanced' menus. The number of options there will keep growing so for now the default menus will have only the basic stuff. I am considering moving to a more traditional menubar that doesn't require that much space at some point.

For what it's worth I think the menu down the left is one of the nicest things, but I agree that there is too much going on with it now. I have a couple of suggestions though. Could the 'Who is here' list be a subsection under the members list? Also, following your simple and advanced idea, could things like stats, buddy lists etc be put in a section labelled 'more'? So when you logon you get:
Home My Games My Tournaments My Messages Archived Games More
And then when you click more you get the full menu. You could do something similar with the preferences section if it works.

Further to my original suggestion, on the My Games page the legend has dropped down the page somewhat, perhaps this could be turned into a popup box, like the game message log.

Thanks for your suggestions, Alice. I like your idea of expanding/collapsing the different menu sections.
Another idea I was considering is using a tree hierarchy for the menu, which will easily allow more than two levels of depth. Look here for an example and let me know what you think. I'm not really convinced that people will like that menu style better though, I personally like how the current menu looks much better.
