Miguel,

With all due respect, I would rather prefer not to have the green lights showing people I am online. I believe that the website is fantastic as it is but this one is a feature that, in my opinion, is not necessary...

Cheers!

Ok, I will give members an option to hide online state.

Now note that the green light does not mean that you are online, it just means that you visited the site less than 5 minutes ago.

But I do agree that members have the right of privacy in this matter so I will give you a way to opt out of it.

And I assume you would you also like to be excluded from the "who's here" list correct?

I agree with Alopinto - for me though it's not primarily an issue of privacy, but one of the spirit of "correspondence" chess. These games should be savoured over days/weeks/months and not in real time. Just because we *can* communicate at the speed of light, doesn't necessarily mean that we *have to* - that's why I play CC here, and not blitz chess over at FICS ;-)

(just my opinion, fwiw)

Hey Austin!

Are you home? :-D

Yes Miguel... I am aware that long hours went into coding to get the green lights and I am sorry if I am not enthusiastic about this feature...

Agreed, though I'm seeing more and more games here that are played in a single day in almost real-time, so there are members who will probably welcome better communication features. Yes?

I have very cool ideas for real-time activities that can be organized here in parallel to correspondence chess, so I need a measure of the interest members have in participating should I decide to go ahead and implement them. Please post your opinion!
