In Quebec there was a Referendum for decidedi independence from Canada, a years ago. Am I mistaken?.
Catalonia, Portugal, ... was a independent countries in past centuries. Portugal with king Peter I (Pedro I de Portugal) ,if I don't remember bad, it got independence from Castilla(Spain) after a war against it. Catalonia also had a war, in 1714 but Catalonia lost it. If Catalonia has won that war, now we will be speaking state of Catalonia.Past president, Aznar, said , If Catalonia want will be independent,by means of a referendum,the one exercises Spanish it will impede (like in 1714).

USA was a colony from UK, and Canada from France ? I am mistaken ? All latin America from Spain ? Catalonia also from Spain. Here we say Castellano(from castles, to the Spanish, because we know very , very much as the spaniards are).
But I've very , very much Spanish friends. A thing doesn't have anything to do with the other one.
Ah, in Spain there are four languajes differents: Basque(2 millions speakers), catalan(10 million),galician(2 million), and castilian(spanish, the rest).

I don't think it has anything to do with nationality. I am an US citizen yet my nationalities are Italian, Irish, and Cajun. I think it has to do more with individualality. I would much prefer to be able to show my individual "colors" so to speak than to be generalized by the red, white, and blue.(no disrespect)

Excuse if I don't understand very good or I don't exprese i want to mean. I want say that i feel some different from feel a people Spanish. For exemple: one people spanish has a different history to Catalonia, or has a different languaje, or there are other form to see future.
Catalan is not best or worst. Is different. Spanish is different also. We have very common thinks whith Spain -political and economyes basically- but I FEEL different. And very much millions of people eqqual me. Nacionalism is no bad. Only is bad when no respect people. And there are nacionalism who no respect other. Spanish nacionalism is one (also i dont disrespect)
