You could have like on the Galaxian arcade game (one flag per wave of aliens destroyed, then a big flag if you destroy five waves), maybe you get one pawn every tournament win, and if you get 10 wins, you earn a queen. Just a thought, but whether it could be implemented is questionable.

That seems like a nice idea.. This pawn/queen system would also prevent cluttering the page with 10000 images.
It is a bit strange we can see player's games, but not tournaments.. I'm not sure why is this, if the site database is designed properly, it is only a matter or query with different player id.. Sorry, I know that's off topic..

the winner of tournaments could be identified without clutter by having a color bar under their name on a game board. the bar would start out yellow and would slowly turn to a deep green after 500 tournaments...if anyone ever won 500 then this could be stated under their new bar which started with yellow...as each win takes place their is a 1000th incremental change in the color tone of the bar. they have such a device with stars for each move you make in any game on another site so i know that such a coding situation is available.
