beat the highest rated players on this site and you can get the highest ratings... those who chanced to beat good players in their very first games deserved to be rated higher, right? So don't pcik on the rating system. Challenge these players who have very few games but high ratings and beat them to get a higher rating. As Mike says, the rating will normalize when these players play more games. And by the way, there are two player classifications in this site and the active provisioned players are the more referred to as barometers for your ELO.

OK-OK-OK... It might be OK, I'm not an expert in this matter. But I've never seen, say, in any other rating list that the top of it to be inflated with 75% provisionals.

Well, of course the system is workin good after some games. I was just pointin out on the hole there, as chief Miguel have also see is correct point. And he have deleate the cheate game. One idea is to that new players should start in tournament to get ELO. Tournament were players are most rated 1300 or 1500 ELO. I mean in ordinary chess you only get ELO for playin in tournaments!

My mentor tells me that Miguel has chosen the USCF ELO/postal rating system because of its stability.
It has been used for many years by the Federation. While ratings seem high, Miguel has taken two provisions to assure that high rated players will play against lower rateds like me...at certain level then NO points trade on the win-draw-loss.
Second, high ratings are actually very superfilous. Miguel has the "p" in effect for twenty-five [25] games!!!! This will tend to stabilize whatever rating you have after the "provisional" status is over.
I started well with three [3] wins, however I won no points off of one opponent. If I was out for points, I would have canceled the game early. Since I am here at Queen Alice for the experience---I am getting all I can handle at the present.
Best to you Miguel, e2cp/Kay

I see no reason for complaint since EVERYONE gets the benefits of that so-called "unfair rating". As others have stated, provisional rating is NOT your TRUE rating. But I do not think anyone would like to be Unrated for 25 games. I believe the "unfair" part lies in entering the tournaments. Players with provisional rating should only be allowed in Open Tournaments. I entered a Master Tournament after finishing only one(!) game. It should be decided if we are "Master", "Intermediate" etc. after those first 25 games, not after just one or two. Other than that there should not be so much fuss about the matter.
