I think we can come up with a better method of breaking ties at the end of a tournament. I welcome your input.

I think the best method of breaking ties is :

An additional match (1 game) between the 2 first players ...if the match is a draw the player who played with black will advance !

If Doran is aiming for a better time efficiency, I'd suggest tie breaks be played as ten days per game matches.

I fact, given the time a tournament with the standard seven days per move usually takes, I would appreciate if there were also the possibility to sign up for 30 days per game type tournaments!

How about his.

The player who would have won on tie break gets white in the first Playoff game. At move 10 a second playoff game starts colors reversed. A new game start whenever the last game to start reaches move 10. The first non draw to occurr decides who wins the tournament.

* I like the 7 das/move tournaments,I used to join tournaments here without looking to time because I am sure they're all 7 d/m !

* I think 7 d/m is an enough time for the correspendance chess (even if in the past a correspendance game took 2 years or more to be finished)...

* Nowdays the internet is moving fastly and we can log in from everywhere even from our phones !

* 30 d/m or 10 d/m or 10 moves in 50 days are other kinds of game's time it will add more opportunities to us, but in my opinion the waiting list will take more time to be started...take a look to the situation here on this site :
-not many members comparing to other sites
-we all joined the 7d/m tournaments's waiting list and all of us know that the tournament takes time to be started (talking about who joins the tournament's list early )..
-now how about if tournaments change from one type to 2 or 3 types (10 d/m , 30 d/m ...) ...people will be paired in 2 or 3 types too....then what time my good mood should wait for ? (for the tournament's start)

I personally prefer to stay on 7 d/m even if sorting tournament by time will give more tastes !

HAZOP's point of view !

I'm afraid to not undersand the option !
why 10 moves ? why playoff ?

a playoff inside an other tournament will punish me ... I prefere to resign than to continue.

I think the best method is what I have said before :

but who's white and who's black ?
the highest rating player will be white
