i do believe that 'beginner at 1700' is too high..i don't think i will ever be a 1700 player
and yet i would like a competitive tournament...
how about a very low tournament from any entry
rating to say 1300..and the next one from 1301
to 1700 and so on ...?

Ok, this is what I'm going to do (unless somebody has a good reason not to). There will be 5 automatic tournament levels:
Open: no rating limits, open to all
Beginner: rated players to 1300
Intermediate: rated players to 1700
Advanced: rated players to 2000
Master: rated players with no limits
Opinions?

I think it's ok, but what about another tournament system. Maybe there should be two groups with seven players where each player fight only game against each other. So every player has three games with white and three with black. I think this is better because in most games you win/lost both tournament games. What do you think ?
