I cast my vote for Kasparov. Fisher may have been the best chess player, but he lacked the staying power. Kasparove has also been a great ammbassador for chess if that counts for anything.

Thinking of Tal, I recall one of his great quotes. He was once asked what chess piece he could be if he could be one. He answered: "A pawn, because I would always have hope."
