There is a big error in the ELO system here.. Some players use it to get high ELO in theyr first game..Look at some players who have only pleyed 1-6 games and hava very high ELO for NOTHING. The start to play high rated player and fix the result to get high ELO. The system goes only normal after some games. Its not vice to get 400 higher ELO than opponet you beat in first game. I hope this will be chanced and then the server is really great!

Roadrunner is right!!
I won 36 games out of 40, and 4 draw... I am only 2100+ after a "hard" work :-O

I think it's fine the way it is. If the apponents are into playing chess, then their rating will eventually stable out after playing so many games anyway. If someone gets a high rating, then the challenge is to try and keep it as high as possible, or if your rating is low, then the challenge is to get it climbing up as high as you can. Don't you think? (However, I understand what you mean, but don't let it get to you) Personaly, I don't mind it.
I would be concerned if the site did not use the same formula as the USCF or whatever formulas other sites use. Most of them seem to use the same standard formula - But then what do I know!!! :-)

You members can see what I mean whwn players fixed their results and ELO: Player KRHONOS from France in his first game wins GOLFGTIV8 from England who had 2216 ELO IN 1.MOVE! and KRHONOS gets his first ELO: 2616! stupid and unfair to other players for instance ADCLARAN who work hard for theyr ELOS. You can also find more players whi fix theyr results like this as this hole is in the system

I disagree with you comlpetely about some things there roadrunner.

Firstly, it seems to me that if they want to inflate an "Internet rating" which means nothing at all.... who cares??

and second, If you have played 40 games, undefeated? and are only 2100, you need to play stronger competition.

As Joseph62 stated, the ELO system has been in use for many many years, the implementation in use here is strongly based on the rating system used by USCF for correspondence chess. So I disagree, the rating system is not wrong.

Also you can't compare number of games played or won, that has nothing to do with the rating system. If you are good and beat a high rated player there is nothing wrong with you starting with an even higher rating (at least I don't see it as a wrong thing). Besides, don't forget that when you see the 'p' next to the rating you are seeing a provisional rating, you have to wait for the player to complete 25 games until you can say that the rating more or less reflects the real playing strength.

Now, there is always people who take advantage of the system, sometimes intentionally, others without really knowing. Whenever that happens I take the appropriate measures. In this case I canceled the game you mentioned as it is obvious that it is bogus. If you see other games like that please let me know.
