Does anybody think about why women play chess worse than men, at least at the highest level?

It’s a function of numbers I think. When I started playing chess women, minorities and kids were very rare. At 15 or so I was often one of the youngest participants. When those group’s numbers increased so did their strength. If women ever play in the same numbers as men, I expect they will be just as good.

In my opinion it's a widespread stereotype. I agree with Odie_Spud, there are not many ladies supertournaments, except nation competitions. Atatürk Women Masters was the only international tournament which I remebmer (I'm 3 years in chess).

I haven't noticed them at the highest levels but then again I don't pay very much attention. Maybe your thinking of Women only leagues where they just play eachother? I've analysed some games from the Women only legues and they have lower quality as a rule games then with coed legues. I don't care how sexist this sounds since it's scientifically shown: Women tend to make emotionally based decisions whereas men make decisions based off of facts and logic. It's just the way different sexes are wired. Even "Objectivism" by Rand is ripe with not so objectively best ideas such as laizzez faire capitalism (refuted even far back as the civil war). Objectivism needs to be differentiated from Rands brand of it since the very basic idea of "the best decision = least effort and resource used with maximized gain" after factoring in ethics. But I digress, also notice how over 90% of grammar and spelling Nazi's are women, a subjective body of knowledge that is seperate from objective reality and the laws of nature. I have a theory that grammar/spelling nazism is used as a distraction from the grammar/spelling nazi's lack of real objective knowledge to support there case or offer a real rebuttal but instead mention the differences between then and than or their and there. The very fact they sound exactly alike but are spelled differently highlights how flawed the English language is.
