Hi whyBish,
And thanks for your input! But we never know until the other guy/gal makes their next move, what squares we still have left to go to. It still does not counter the argument that not being able to do an extra move is an improvement. Though it's true that a preview of your ideal setup might help.

...Rh1-e1 (=0-0), black to move.

See how confusing your own idea is? This castling manoeuvre is incorrect.

If you are analysing, you might forget to put that one pawn back where it was in the game...

Yet you're familiar with using Think to step back through your lines.

Anyway, I'd say that you're wanting things a little too easy. Chess is a challenge which includes the pitfalls of analytical errors and it is up to the players to keep these to a minimum, as part of their playing abilities. If we really wished to make things as easy as possible, we'd all be using computer engines.

Looks like a few users want improvements to the Think mode.

A much better idea would be an improved Private notes box in which to write out our lines and thoughts. Used together with Think mode this could be an invaluable tool. But right now, there's a limit on how much we can write in there and this seriously weakens its usefulness.

@Onceupon: OK, granted, I should have written Rh1-f1. My bad. It's not that I'm just trying to be difficult here, or that I am addicted to being right or anything. But we do seem to agree that some features of Think are a bit lacking. I was hoping for somebody (i.e. the main programmer, Michael) to give a more cogent explanation as to why Think mode is less than ideal as it is. If the competition board works with all the basic move rules, why can't the Think mode do so also?
