There is no technical reason, I explained this already. The think mode is supposed to be a free form board where you can try ideas, which may or may not follow movement rules.
I can consider an optional mode in which moves are validated, but that was not the original intent.

Well put. I think this would be its appeal.

I suppose I could PM you with a number of quick examples if you so wish. Forgive me if I don't take the bait right here

Miguel, do consider an optional mode in which moves are validated. Other turn-based chess sites offer that in their equivalents to the "think" feature.
However, I think that this is a low-priority feature compared to teams. I understand that this site is funded by donations and run during your spare time; you have done an excellent job - keep it up!

Ah, Miguel, Axedre, hildanknight, thanks for replying.
I for one would be quite happy with an Analyse mode, or a rules on/off toggle, for more serious matches. Flights of fancy are also necessary, but sometimes one needs to be bound to the harsh consequences of one's previous moves. Adversity is a better teacher than the great 'What If?', in the long run.
But as regards my original suggestion, which has by now been seriously snowed under: I still believe that introducing turn order would be the only improvement the Think mode really needs. If time and donations allow, of course...
