I think it is unethical to allow your time to expire. I feel as though I have made a committment to move atleast as fast as the time control implies.
I claim wins as soon as they become availible. Possibly you should be warned about me.
I think that the ability to send an if move would be an excellent new feature. Especially when my opponent should resign. If moves would speed the game along considerable.

I would prefer an option for a player to decide whether or not he or she would like the system to end the game or just decide for himself/herself.

Three times, one of my opponents, who is on my buddy-list" ran out of time. Two times I sended a reminder, the third time I claimed the game. Now, I have got two ongoing tournament matches with my buddy, but he does not respond my small inside match messages anymore. Thats one of the reasons why I am in favor of a system which awards you automaticly with the win if your opponents time expires.
Also if you play chess on-the-board, your opponent dont ask you, "Shall I drop the flag, or do you want me to turn the clock backwards?"
Spawnwolfwolverine got me tricked in the first two games I played on this site. I did not really have a good look at the time-control. My own fault of course, but the games were claimed already, when I got about 20 minutes home later then normal. I am lucky I met him another six times in tournaments, where he did not only loose all of them, he got slaughtered. He doesn,t give-up before he is checkmated, but also, suddenly he doesn,t move so quickly anymore. I read it before in this topic, its true, his rating is too high, artificialy made.
BUT; It is not unethic. If he wants too play quick games, he can. It is allowed and fully allright. The ones who accept his games, should realize what they are accepting. Only thing is that it could be more specificly mentioned in the intruduction page, if you enter a chess-site. Especially for newcomers in correspondence-chess.
