Philador is totally off base. Good spelling and use of correct English is not appreciated on a gender only basis: British males are as much the enforcers of good English usage (you can't call them Nazis) as any females anywhere. They certainly are unlike their more sloppy male cousins across the Atlantic who don't seem to care about proper usage because they're lazy. And there's no reason why a woman can't equal a man at chess - if she felt like doing so.
