I meant it would be welcome, were it in place. The point is it isn't, so perhaps time could be spent on something more important.

Indeed. When I'm actually playing chess, I'm more concerned with the game itself than with chatting with my opponent. I also like to think that this concern is mutual.

Why would it? The suggestion from my previous posting might just work. I have not used the personal notes yet, but you like using them. You are not too concerned with the ability to in-game chat, and I like it a lot. When facing a lost position, the least one can do is grumble "Curses! Foiled again!", or "That's another fine mess...".
Increase the message space. Increase the notes. everybody benefits.
