This is a very touchy topic, and I'm going to be very careful with what I say.
WMD - USA believed Iraq had them, and they have searched everywhere, yet they STILL believe they have them.
Countries who have dictators, have people who live in fear. Surely, no-one can be happy living like that. I'm lucky, I live in a democracy, where I have freedom within the laws. I am luckier that it's a really relaxed democracy.
Countries hating one another will always happen...
Have you ever thought this - Every world war has been over religion! It's true.

Yes, PGeon, I know that there is nothing wrong in playing chess for muslims (...or for anyone else, LOL!), that is why I found it so shocking when I read that fatwah from this Iran Imam...
Besides, everybody knows that chess first came to Europe via the Persian Empire, which is the ancient Iran...
To Nerdling : of course, we are very lucky to live in a democratic country, though it is obvious that even democratic countries still have a lot to do to improve things like education and welfare....

Religion and Politics should never have been mixed. Corruption and grasping at power is all that matters to the few people running our countries and religions. The messages of our faiths are gone...replaced by the biased opinions of the people running them. With the consequences for us all to suffer. Think for yourself, love your family and neighbor. Promote peace, because everything else is a lie.

Nerdling, we've had two world wars (unless you count the current situation as the beginning of world war three, as some do), and neither was about religion. There have been many wars concerning religion, but WWI and WWII were not.

Indeed...both the Korean war (in the 50') and the Vietnam war (in the 60') were political conflicts, not religious...I think that when men really want to fight, they always find "a good reason"...
As we say in France, "qui veut tuer son chien l'accuse de la rage", that is to say "give a dog a bad name and hang him".
